Health Insurance Net
We all know that health care is profoundly expensive. The United States alone
spends trillions of dollars each year on it, and some projections say spending
will almost double in the next ten years. In a concerted effort to combat
persistent rise of health care costs, insurance companies have designed a
four-prong plan. The first aspect of the plan is to promote walking among members. Walking has been shown to lower the risks for all kinds of conditions, and also helps to keep weight down and energy up. To encourage this easy and effective form of exercise among its members, insurance companies make pedometers available at a reduced cost, provide logs for recording walks, and otherwise help to establish walking routines. The second part of the plan involves educating members about how they can personally keep health care costs low. Insurance companies will never ask you to cut corners on quality. Still, there are many things you can do (buying generic drugs, for instance) that help to keep expenses down. The third side of the plan is highlighting the best of local insurance companies’ community programs. These innovative programs, which were designed to cut costs and improve service, use, among other things, quality-based incentives, to help ensure customer service levels remain high and prices low. Finally, insurance companies have developed an extensive research program. The Association funds studies by objective researchers that examine the forces behind the rising costs of health care. Fully understanding the problem should make it easier to fight it. |
